Postpartum Support Virginia (PSVa) is the primary statewide hub for perinatal mental health support, education, and referrals. It focuses on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), providing resource directories, support groups, and care coordination for pregnant and postpartum families.
PSVa operates a year-round Warmline for non-crisis support — callers or texters are connected to information, resources, and referrals for counseling, support groups, and peer mentors:
Pelvic floor PT addresses postpartum issues like leaking urine, prolapse, pelvic pain, diastasis recti, and painful intercourse. Typical care involves a 60-minute initial evaluation followed by hands-on manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education tailored to prenatal/postpartum recovery.
Insurance and referrals: Many clinics are out-of-network or cash-based but provide superbills for insurance reimbursement; others are embedded in larger health systems and bill standard plans. Some require a physician referral (especially hospital-based programs), while independent practices often accept self-referrals. Always confirm with the clinic and your insurance before starting care.
